Leading ethical outreach missions

“I was really inspired to write about that topic, because it's where I was at personally and professionally. I was thinking about things I've seen in the global health field – kind of “The Good, the Bad, and The Ugly,” and “Where do we go from here?'' So there's no doubt that medical missions and other short term healthcare relief missions really help bring healthcare quickly to those that need it the most. I emphasize ‘quickly’ because there are millions of people even right now that are dying or gravely ill from preventable illnesses. Without the aid, many people won't have the opportunity to access anything like that. At the same time, when it comes to missions, there's a challenge that presents itself in that people can be exploited”

Faith Adole is an experienced nurse leader and the founder and president of the U-VOL foundation, a non-profit organization dedicated to helping bridge healthcare gaps in underprivileged communities. She received her bachelors in nursing from California Baptist university, her master’s from California State University, and her MBA and doctorate in nursing practice from Johns Hopkins University. She has years of experience as a registered nurse, nursing administrator, family nurse practitioner, and nonprofit leadership. In 2015, she founded the U-VOL foundation with the goal of providing medical outreach, education, and other health sustainability projects to communities in need.
