How to deal with death as a caregiver

One of the most complex parts of our jobs is to witness the death of a love one or someone you have taken care of for a time, especially when we have seen them suffer a prolonged illness or terminal condition. 

It’s not surprising for some nurses to feel an emotional toll after the death of their patients. Many nurses felt sad and had a hard time handling the death of their COVID-19 patients. These could then leave a lasting impact on their personal lives and professional careers, so learning how to manage grief and other emotions in these trying times would help them cope when similar situations arise in the future.
